Course Description
This unit standard is to enable the first responder to react to emergencies at an advanced first aid level, until the arrival of more professional emergency personnel.
Certification
Qualifying learners will be capable of:
- Â Explaining the principles of advanced first aid in emergencies.
- Â Demonstrating an advanced level of preparedness to deal with sudden illness or emergency.
- Â Assessing and managing an emergency scene/disaster.
- Â Describing the anatomy and explaining the physiology of the human body systems in terms of injury or sudden illness.
- Â Applying primary first aid for all age groups according to accepted current first aid protocols.
- Â Explaining and managing shock
Outcome 1
- Explain the principles of advanced primary emergency care in all health emergencies.
Outcome 2
- Demonstrate an advanced level of preparedness to deal with potential emergencies.
Outcome 3
- Assess and manage a complex emergency scene/disaster.
Outcome 4
- Explain the applied anatomy and physiology of the human body systems and describe the emergency care management.
Outcome 5
- Apply primary emergency life support for adults, children, and infants according to current international and/or national protocols. Of disorders and diseases relating to each physical system.
